Eye to eye
I looked over into the other car,
waiting at a red light in Atlanta;
an elderly regal woman looked back,
eye to eye,
a lot can be exchanged in a short time.
She had a hard life,
made her strong but untrusting,
her looking back at me
expressed that,
waiting at a red light in Atlanta;
an elderly regal woman looked back,
eye to eye,
a lot can be exchanged in a short time.
She had a hard life,
made her strong but untrusting,
her looking back at me
expressed that,
I looked away,
uncomfortable to say the least.
Perhaps I was looking into a mirror;
it had nothing to do with her,
hence my discomfort,
my looking away,
my uneasiness too much to bear.
That was 30 years ago;
I doubt I have changed much.
uncomfortable to say the least.
Perhaps I was looking into a mirror;
it had nothing to do with her,
hence my discomfort,
my looking away,
my uneasiness too much to bear.
That was 30 years ago;
I doubt I have changed much.
If I saw her again,
what would I see,
my experience what would it be?
what would I see,
my experience what would it be?
Would I look away?
